Last days before hitting the road

by Stephanie Chevalier September 27 2013, 18:26

In a few days I'll fly down to Bolivia to start my cycling journey, that should take me through Bolivia, Chile and possibly Argentina too.

First I'd like to apologize to my Francophone fellows and family for having chosen to write in English, simply I can't imagine translating each of my posts in two languages and it seems like more people will be able to read it in English.

Last winter was one of the roughest ones I had in the Yukon, it started really cold, and I had some professional questionings which made me go through a few challenging months. And as usual, when I go through such times, I promise myself to have amazing projects for the year to come. So I started thinking about this trip to South America, a continent I have never explored yet; I had made another promise to myself a decade ago, to not go there as long as I hadn't learned to speak Spanish. But time is flying and I still don't know this singing language so I thought I might as well go and learn it there.

I ended all my professional commitments end of July, enjoyed a few weeks back in my homeland, France, and a beautiful canoe trip on the Stikine river, between BC and Alaska, and finally had a few weeks to get ready for this cycling trip.

I'm not sure yet how long I'll be on the road, my current return date is mid-December from Santiago de Chile, but I am open to make the journey last until end of February if my financial, physical and mental capacity allows me to, so that I could bike down to Ushuaia, the end of the road. We'll see how it goes, I like the idea of leaving the options open!

Next time I'll give you some news I'll be a few thousand kilometres away from Vancouver, in the southern hemisphere...
